BBC News: US seeks independence with natural gas

Future energy security, lessening dependence on Middle Eastern oil, comes from utilizing on all domestic energy sources.

The most abundant source that can be made readily available for transportation fuel is natural gas. At present, states such as Kentucky and Pennsylvania are in a position to provide a large supply of natural gas for this emerging market. Through the efforts of CNG Energy, LLC--a Kentucky based company--natural gas vehicles (NGV) may be a reality sooner than later, using the abundant American resource natural gas.
"Natural gas is our cleanest fossil fuel. It can be used in cars, to generate electricity. It can be liquefied and used as jet aviation fuel," [Stephen Rupert, VP-Range Resources].

Large reserves of natural gas will position Kentucky to be a dominant player in this emerging industry.

A recent article by the BBC News shows that the world is waking up to the efforts by some in the United States to break the stranglehold foreign oil, especially Middle Eastern oil cartels, and to chart the way to energy security and independence.
