The University of Kentucky is hosting a "A Forum on Coal in Kentucky: Varied Perspectives". The panel discussion will provide a total perspective on coal and its importance to Kentucky.
The event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged.
The forum will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Hilary J. Boone Center; 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Hall on the U.K. campus.
A list of invited speakers include:
-State Rep. Rocky Adkins, Majority Floor Leader
-Joe Craft, President and Chief Exec. Dir., Alliance Coal
-Tom Fitzgerald, Exec. Dir., Kentucky Resources Council
-Former Gov. Paul Patton (invited), President, Pikeville College
With Governor Patton as one of the invited speakers, Pike County will be well-represented. His experience as a private businessman in the coal industry brought a unique perspective to his public leadership in the areas of economic development and education reform efforts.
